Meet Sherry B. Williams
Sherry is an Atlanta native with corporate experience working with Fortune 100 companies, including Coca-Cola USA, The Southland Corporation, Mary Kay Cosmetics, and Toshiba America Information Systems. Her nonprofit experience includes The Chicago Urban League, The Arizona Democratic Party, The Georgia Coalition of the People’s Agenda, Georgia StandUp, New Georgia Project, and Georgia Conservation Voters. She has also worked for the Georgia State Senate. Sherry’s volunteer experience includes working with community, university, and faith-based projects.
Advocate
An advocate running for Atlanta City Council District 11, Sherry has a B.S. degree in Political Science from North Carolina State University (Raleigh) and a M.S. in Information Systems from Roosevelt University (Chicago), with additional leadership training from the GSU Robinson School of Business and the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies. Her civic engagement includes leadership roles with the National Black MBA Association (Chicago, Phoenix, & Atlanta Chapters) the Phoenix Women’s Commission, the League of Women Voters of Atlanta-Fulton, and the Atlanta Citizens Review Board (ACRB). She is a graduate of Leadership North Fulton, the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Regional Leadership Institute (RLI), the Atlanta Police Department’s Citizen Academy, and the Atlanta Fire Rescue’s Citizen Academy. She is a lifetime member of Charles L. Harper High School International Alumni Association, a lifetime member of the NAACP, and active member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Sherry has a solid track record of advocating for residents, working with elected officials, and municipal project leaders on issues that improve the quality of life for residents in often underserved and disenfranchised communities.
Survivor
As a four-time breast cancer survivor, Sherry is no stranger to fighting against the odds. She continues to work on quality-of-life projects that enhance the quality of life for residents, prioritizing the needs of District 11 residents who deserve safe, beautiful, and economically thriving communities. Listening to, educating, and empowering residents has been Sherry’s life’s work. She will continue to fight for YOU… Sherry B. For our community! People call Sherry when they want to get things done.
Author
An author. Sherry is the Author of “When Cancer Calls”, a small book about hope for those dealing with a cancer diagnosis. She has written articles for and been featured in national magazines, city newspapers, including her AJC opinion piece that was used to help resolve the misinformation and miscommunication about the MARTA Campbellton Road Corridor Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project.
